Jay Walker, one of the most influential minds in the digital age, took the floor at a TED conference in February 2009 to discuss the “mania” for learning English that is spread the globe. His speech begins in a somewhat controversial tone, in order to garner audience attention and then he closes with what I view as the strongest reason for teaching of ESL internationally; not to replace other languages, but to enable communication. Although you may have viewed this presentation in the past, it is certainly worth viewing again. Click below to view. Enjoy the show!
